Sts. Peter and Paul Parish is fortunate to have many active organizations within our parish community. Parishioners are strongly encouraged to participate in those activities which are of interest to them. The Church calls us to be aware that our ability, time and money are gifts from God. By caring for the needs of the parish and community, we show ourselves to be stewards of God’s gifts.
The main responsibilities are for the beauty of the sanctuary and to promote spiritual growth of the members. Members cooperate with the Pastor in maintaining the altar for worship. Meetings are held on the last Tuesday of the month following the 8:00 a.m. Mass. Active or Auxiliary membership is open to men or women of the parish. Dues are used to request Masses for the membership. The group also holds a bake sale on the first full weekend of the month to purchase items necessary for the Church.
The mission of Sts. Peter & Paul Antonians is to serve those in need in our community (parishioners and others in the area) and to foster activities that will create a sense of community among the members and to promote their spiritual development. All men, Catholic and non-Catholic, are welcome. Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month beginning at 7:00 p.m. with a community meal in St. Anthony Hall. Dues are charged, and those funds are used to sponsor three functions each year for the members and their families.
The objective and purpose of GASPP is to provide social and spiritual activities for its members. Any person 55 years and older may become a member of this organization. There are no dues or officers. A Covered Dish Get-Together is held in the Parish Hall at Noon on the first Monday of the month. Watch the bullentin for any changes on the dates.
The presence of the Sts. Peter and Paul Knights of Columbus Council #11814 enhances the personal commitment and direct involvement of its members in parish life. Even though this organization is not directed by the Church, members are a great help to the Pastor. Meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the St. Anthony Hall.
This ministry is to promote the protection of life from the moment of conception until natural death. We support the Slidell Right to Life Chain each year on the first Sunday in October.
The St. Joseph Altar Guild is a group of people who wish to continue the tradition of constructing altars in honor of St. Joseph to share their good fortune with others in need. The ladies begin to bake in January to have foods prepared to share with the public on St. Joseph’s Day, March 19. Without exception, the altar workers explain that they contributed to the altar not for their own purposes, but for St. Joseph, or a family member or friend. The workers can always use help begging for supplies, as the altar must not incur “any expense or any personal financial gain.” Please join them in their good works in January.
This group meets monthly to help support each other in any way that is needed. Meeting dates are posted on the Monthly Parish Calendar and in the Bulletin.
